The Role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a talented technician to work as part of the production team, to assist transforming our conventional machine shop to a fit for future facility, creating a better multi-disciplined team and maximise our efficiencies & performance for the benefit of our customers & future growth.
General parts of the role include:
  • Ability to interpret in-house & customer engineering drawings, geometric tolerances/features & finishes.
  • Programme/edit, set and operate a range CNC lathe machines with C & Y axis using Fanuc Controls.
  • The ability to programme offline using InventorCam or equivalent package is desired.
  • Optimisation of current machining methods to maximise machining capabilities.
  • Advise on tooling requirements for creating efficient machining strategies.
  • Conduct production trials for evaluation purposes for new product developments.
  • Strong experience using measurement/inspection equipment including verniers, bore gauges, micrometres etc.
  • Have the ability to identify and solve problems as they arise during production and work to tight tolerances.
  • Advise on jigs/fixture/tooling requirements for effective productionising.
  • Advise on cost reducing using quick change methods (SMED) techniques.
  • Check daily design requirements; liaise with production colleagues to ensure targets are met.
  • Provide feedback on projects & where possible look at automation to maximise out of work hours machining runs.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative whilst working adeptly & efficiently within time constraints.
  • Have the ability to consistently maintain high levels of quality whilst meeting tight deadline.
  • Support design and production engineering on the deployment of methodologies.
  • Adhere to the Quality standards.
  • Fulfil training programs deemed necessary to allow efficient performance of duties and assist in your personal development.
  • Provide technical support to all manufacturing areas to eliminate waste, reduce NVA, and deliver productivity benefits.
  • Create standard work methods/documentation for operators to follow.

The Person:

HNC or equivalent engineering qualifications would be desirable, with excellent manufacturing industry experience. Previous experience of 3/4/5 Axis CNC machine programming, setting and operating. Working knowledge of Lean principles/practices and demonstrable experience of using Fanuc controls. You must have proactive approach be able to work with minimum supervision and be highly motivated and have the ability to work well in a team.

The role will suit someone with ambition, wanting to become more technically enabled allowing them to be able to influence the daily/weekly & monthly shop-floor decisions for production methods using best practices.
